i'm bundled up. scarf, beanie, big jacket, and gloves. its still cold. my fingers exposed cause i'm smoking are freezing. I wouldn't want to be any where else in the world.
This place is amazing Park City during the Sundance film festival is like UT version of Mardigras. People from all over the country crowd the streets braving the snow trudging from restaurant to restaurant bar to bar or movie screening to movie screening. i catch bits of conversation as i walk down the side walk, folks conversing amongst themselves critiquing movies, and hoping to catch a glance of the celebrities that are littered around.
my roommate and i duck in to a small dimly lit wine bar, Bacchus wine bar. Apparently a local favorite and a welcome change to the packed bars that we have been subjected to. The bar is down stairs and is dark. very dark the way a good wine lounge should be. a guitarist sits in the corner and croons out great covers of crowd favorites.
looking around no one really seems to notice him most people are locked in what appears to be thrilling conversation, but here and there you can see people singing along moved by the traubadores tune.
we sit at the bar and go over the wine list choosing an Argentinian malbec. the bartender a gorgeous blond as is usually the case, takes our order and pours us wine with an easy smile and kind words. My favorite thing about wine bars is ease with which conversations start. We begin to converse with mark a man in his fifties sitting near us about any and all topics, the bartender joins in and the wine flows freely. The couple near me sits closer and and start conversing as well. soon we begin to feel the familiar warmth of wine coursing through our veins and call it a night. we have a long way to go back to SLC and the snow hasn't stopped.
